Welders, structural/vessel Fabricators primarily fall in the mechanical labors and these categories require highly skilled manpower in order to execute the project successfully.

Welders different categories depending on welding process can be
GTAW(TIG), SMAW(ARC), GTAW+SMAW(TIG+ARC), SAW, MIG etc.Further, the categories can be 3G, 4G, 6G etc. Depending on weld position also some specific alloys and material like P11, P22, copper, aluminum require special welding skills.

Welder/Fabricator Trade Test Center India

Welders available in various parts of India who can weld single/multiple processes and various positions professionally. But the major concern in the selection of welders is that the good candidates are not good at communication so they cannot talk good English or write a good CV. The employer has to depend on a good agency to bring good welders for trade test and then select the best talent on the basis of testing results. Vessel Fabricators is another difficult category as they are having special skills as compared to pipefitters or structural Fabricators. They have to be tested by giving them drawings or asking some sample calculations, formulae, and theory.

Further, the Fabricators or fitters can be tested for their other associated skills like gas cutting, grinding etc

Crane operators and regards may be required in fewer numbers and can be selected in table interviews.

Trade test for all above categories can be conducted at various locations like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana etc major industrial hubs in these States do have trade test centers which offer facilities to interview candidates and put them for the test. There are facilities where 20 to 30 welders can be tested simultaneously.
The trade test centers do have a generator backup in case of power failure and experienced staff who can arrange the test pieces as per the WPS and test plan.

Normally 50 to 60 welders can be tested in one day in a batch size of 10 to 15 each and every test requires anywhere between 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on test size and the test procedures. Stainless steel or special alloys welding test can also be conducted provided materials are arranged in advance.
The welder test normally cost anywhere in the range of INR 1000 to INR 6000 depending on the material, welding process followed and size of test piece involved same can be economized if two welders are tested on one piece.
